2007 SURVEY OF
MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTIONISTS
The 2007 Survey of Medical Transcriptionists is part of a academic larger project (by Profs. Gary David and Angela Garcia of Bentley College, Waltham, MA) seeking to understand the work experiences of medical transcriptionists, as well as the value they add to production of accurate and reliable medical records. A primary goal of the project is to provide a better understanding for those involved in medical records production regarding the work and value of MTs.
The 2007 Survey of Medical Transcriptionists is critical to this project as no data exists regarding the characteristics and experiences of the medical transcription professional. The survey will be used to collect and analyze data on the demographic characteristics of MTs, their work experiences, experiences with technology, and questions meant to identify the issues that are most important to MTs.
Please answer each item to the best of your ability. Participation is purely voluntary, and you are free to stop taking the survey at any time. If you are unclear about an item, feel free to contact Gary David at

for clarification. If you are uncomfortable about any question, you may leave the item blank. No individual identifying information will be gathered as part of this survey, and all of your responses are anonymous. There is minimal personal risk to participating in this project.
While the project is being conducted by an independent research team, it is endorsed by the Association of Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI) and the Medical Transcription Industry Association (MTIA).
This survey has been reviewed and approved by the Bentley College Institutional Review Board (IRB) under the National Science Foudnation’s federal guidelines regarding Protection of Human Research Subjects.
